Bukhara is a sacred place of Central Asia with its centuries-old history, closely intertwined with the history of the Silk Road. The Old Town part has carried its appearance through the centuries. The ancient settlement of Bukhara arose in the first centuries AD. e. In the VI century. it becomes the capital of the early feudal possession of the Bukhara oasis. The city of Bukhara (shahristan) was formed near an artificial hill, on which an ancient citadel (ark) towered. But as the settlements of artisans (rabads) grew outside the city, they, together with the shahristan, were surrounded by a defensive wall. To this day, its remains dating back to the 16th century have been preserved. The centuries-old history of Bukhara left traces on the territory of the city, which are clearly visible to this day. The main ancient streets and their intersections are marked by monumental buildings. Their colorful portals and domes rise majestically above the city. Commercial buildings are spread out in multi-dome ceilings on the market squares. There is a quiet powerful bulk of the citadel. And the Kalyan minaret (XII century) majestically rises above the whole city. Bukhara keeps, although not numerous, but genuine treasures of architecture of the pre-Mongolian period.
